A rubric is a way to measure the same "thing" made by multiple people in a fair way. It makes it clear upfront what the expectatins are for each piece of the "thing".

The Massachusetts School Library Asociation  has created such a rubric for school libraries. It is an excellent tool to see all the items and activities that make up a library and to measure their effectiveness.

This rubric was created for libraries already formed and needed a measurment tool. At our small beginnings, the rubric may look overwhelming - but it's good to know where we want to head.

Rubric for evaluating library effectiveness.
